Working With Your Patient
Care Coordinator

Patient Care Coordinators (PCCs) from the Patient Service Center (PSC), the CINRYZESolutions® patient access network, work closely with each patient on an individual basis. Patients and their healthcare providers are assigned a PCC who will work with them throughout the course of CINRYZE® (C1 esterase inhibitor [human]) therapy.

Your PCC will help you understand your insurance benefits relating to CINRYZE by:

  • reviewing your insurance coverage
  • identifying any insurance co-payments or deductibles that you may be required to pay*
  • determining any limitations your insurance may have, such as a lifetime maximum
  • checking to see if your insurance requires prior authorization for CINRYZE

*Certain patients may be eligible for the Co-pay Program from CINRYZE. If you have a co-pay as determined by your insurance coverage and you meet eligibility requirements, you can take advantage of the program. The program covers out-of-pocket expenses, with no cost to you.

If you don't currently have any insurance coverage or you are underinsured, your PCC will help you by seeking alternative coverage or financial support by:

  • trying to obtain coverage for you through Patient Services, Incorporated (PSI), an organization that offers financial help to patients who can’t otherwise afford CINRYZE® (C1 esterase inhibitor [human]) or insurance
  • determining whether you are eligible to receive benefits through the ViroPharma Charitable Foundation, an independent non-profit organization that administers Patient Assistance Programs (PAP) for CINRYZE
    • PAP are offered to patients with no insurance coverage or not enough insurance coverage
    • Eligibility based on certain income and insurance criteria
    • Eligible patients may receive therapy with CINRYZE at little or no cost

After reviewing your insurance benefits and discussing them with you, your PCC will forward your information to 1 of 2 specialty pharmacy (SP) partners (Caremark or CuraScript). The specialty pharmacy partner will work with you to coordinate any final details of starting you on therapy with CINRYZE® (C1 esterase inhibitor [human]).

Your PCC will continue to follow your progress by:

  • coordinating with your SP to help you start on therapy with CINRYZE
  • identifying the reason for any rejected insurance claims
  • ensuring that you and your healthcare professional have all the necessary product information for CINRYZE
Get more information on working with a PCC in the CINRYZESolutions brochure.

Indication
CINRYZE® (C1 esterase inhibitor [human]) is an injectable medicine that is used to help prevent swelling and/or painful attacks in teenagers and adults with Hereditary Angioedema (HAE).

Important Risk Information
You should not use CINRYZE if you have had life-threatening immediate hypersensitivity reactions, including anaphylaxis to the product.

Tell your healthcare provider about all of your medical conditions, including if you:

  • Are pregnant or planning to become pregnant. It is not known if CINRYZE can harm your unborn baby.
  • Are breastfeeding or plan to breastfeed. It is not known if CINRYZE passes into your milk and if it can harm your baby.
  • Have a history of blood clotting problems. Very high doses of C1 esterase inhibitor could increase the risk of blood clots.

Tell your healthcare provider and pharmacist about all of the medicines you take, including all prescription and non-prescription medicines such as over-the-counter medicines, supplements, or herbal remedies.

Allergic reactions may occur with CINRYZE. Call your healthcare provider or get emergency support services right away if you have any of the following symptoms:

  • wheezing
  • difficulty breathing
  • chest tightness
  • turning blue (look at lips and gums)
  • fast heartbeat
  • swelling of the face
  • faintness
  • rash
  • hives

Because CINRYZE is made from human blood, it may carry a risk of transmitting infectious agents, e.g., viruses and, theoretically, the Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (CJD) agent.

The most common side effects seen with CINRYZE were headache, nausea, rash, and vomiting. These are not all the possible side effects of CINRYZE. Tell your healthcare provider about any side effect that bothers you or that does not go away. You can also report side effects to ViroPharma Medical Information at (866) 331-5637 or the FDA at 1-800-FDA-1088.

Medicines are sometimes prescribed for purposes other than those listed here. Do not use CINRYZE for a condition for which it is not prescribed. Do not share CINRYZE with other people, even if they have the same symptoms that you have.

Before starting CINRYZE, please read the accompanying Patient Information carefully and each time you get a refill.
